Friday night in Rainsville Plainview opened up the 2012 playoffs with a 62-26 win over Susan Moore.Plainview leads the all time series at 7-4 including 2 straight wins.It didn’t take Plainview to long to start the scoring when Cody Willingham broke a 73 yard touch down on the second play of the game. Susan Moore gets the ensuing kick off an gets stopped on 2 running plays. Plainview’s Raspberry intercepts a Susan Moore pass an runs it in for a touchdown.
Unfortunately, the touchdown was called back due to off setting penalties. However on the drive Payne Anderson breaks a 23 yard touch down with 5:14 left in the first quarter. Anderson again found the end zone with a 63 yard touchdown run with 2:23 left in the first quarter. With 11:10 left in the half quarterback Jayse Pruitt found senior Cole Porter on 4th down for a 33 yard touchdown pass. Susan Moore finally got on the scoreboard with 8:24 left in the half with a 3 yard run. However on the next series Plainview drives down the field an Willingham scores from 6 yards out with 5:43 left in the half. Susan Moore receives the second half kick off but a fumble recovery by John David Martin put the Bears offense back on the field. Willingham broke a 63 yard touchdown run with 8:43 left in the 3rd quarter. Susan Moore would find the end zone 2 more times with a touchdown run with 4:55, and a 64 yard touchdown pass with 2:30 left in the third. With 8:49 left in the game Plainview’s Spears would break a 62 yard touchdown run to end the scoring for the Bears. Week 10: PlainviewNovember 06, 2012
Friday night in Rainsville Fyffe was to much to handle as Plainview fell 49-20.
Plainview took the opening kick off an drove down the field but was unable to score as they missed a field goal. Fyffe took over an busted a 68 yard touch down run. But that did not stop the Bears. On their next possession Cole Porter caught a 70 yard touch down pass from Jayse Pruitt. Fyffe took the next kick off an quickly went down the field. The Bears D stood strong an held them on fourth down on the 8 yard line with 1:15 left in the first. Plainview couldn’t get a first down and punted it back to Fyffe. With 9:33 left in the half Fyffe scores from 5 yards out. Plainview got the opening kick off an went 3 and out. Fyffe blocked the punt giving the devils the ball on the 13 yard line. Finally on 4th and 2 Fyffe found the end zone with 4:03 left in the half. However the Bears again ran into a tough Fyffe D an fumbled the ball on the 25 yard line. I Love Football Season!October 29, 2012
You know why I love football so much….because each game matters. Either it’s a region game that applies to the playoffs or in the case of this week in region 8 (which will cross with Ft. Payne, Etowah, Arab, and Boaz for playoffs), it will be this last “out of region” game that will determine overall record and where they will be seeded. I love the fact that at the beginning of the season, nobody had DAR in the playoffs…but look out the Patriots are there for the first time in school history. I love when so many region championships and playoff seeding come down to the last region game…and the excitement the fans show when the game is on the line. I love how the coaches begin to look at the playoffs as the second season…with a “win and you go on….lose you go home” mindset. The only thing I don’t love..is when we get to this point it means the season is nearly over.

Plainview increased the all time series record to 9-1 an 8 in a row downing New Hope 13-12 Friday night. New Hope got the first touchdown of the night when Rudy Ford picked up his own teams fumble an ran it in with 7:10 left in the first. Plainviews next series was a 3 an out an New Hope capitalized when Rudy Ford found the end zone making the score 12-0 at the end of the first.
At the early stages of the second quarter Rudy Ford ran the ball up the middle an a pile of defenders tackled him injuring his ankle. It would end the night for Ford. After the injury New Hope was forced to punt an Plainview took the possession down for a first and goal. Unfortunately Plainview could not score turning the ball over on downs.Plainviews only score on the night came when Anderson broke a 55 yard touchdown run with 2:32 left until halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter the score was still 12-7. With 5:33 left in the game Anderson blocks a New Hope punt giving the Bears great field possession.Sophomore Jayse Pruitt found Clark for a long pass making it first an goal on the 2 yard line. TOn the second play Jayse Pruitt scored on a QB sneak to make it 13-12. Plainview’s 2 point conversion was no good. With less than 3 minutes left in the game the Bears defense stood strong an held the Indians on a 4th down to seal the victory. Anderson led the Bears ground attack with 9 rushes for 105 yards.Next up for Plainview is a key region game an rivalry with Sylvania.

Week 4: Big JohnOctober 04, 2012
First off….congrats to the Boaz Pirates as they remain undefeated with a huge win over Albertville and one step (and a region win) from being Marshall County Football Champions! But even as I look at that, I have to say there is a lot of football left to be played…a lot of playoff and region championships left to be decided. Now, I believe that Albertville will get a region win or 2 in the second half of the season and possibly end the season with a win over Guntersville. Boaz must now run a tough gauntlet of teams in region 7 to stay undefeated (Fort Payne, Southside, Arab, and then end with Etowah). Sardis seems to be headed for a week 9 showdown with Oneonta and possibly a region title on the line. Let’s not forget that Fyffe, Ider, Sand Rock, Sylvania, Geraldine, Plainview and New Hope are all in the fights of their regions playoff picture. Ladies and Gentlemen, the playoffs are not in a few weeks…I believe they actually sort of start this week…as ESPN says…each game matters.

Week 5: PlainviewOctober 01, 2012
Plainview escaped “The Rock” in a non region game friday night winning 14-7.
It was a defensive struggle throughout most of the game but in the end Plainview made one more play. The only points in the first half happened with 24 seconds left in the half when Cole Porter broke a 29 yard touchdown run making it 7-0 at half. The third quarter was scoreless with both defenses making big plays. The biggest play was towards the end of the quarter when Isaiah Glover picked off a Sand Rock pass in the red zone.
Unfortunately, the Bears were unable to get a first down an had to punt with seconds left on the clock. Like they did most of the game Sand Rock’s special teams had a big return to set up a wild forth quarter. After a Sand Rock touchdown the Bears drove down the field to tie the game at 7 all. Caleob Spears scored on a 9 yard run with 5:43 left in the game. Sand Rock drove down the field with minutes left in the game they were already in the red zone. 4th an 20 The Rock went for it an again the Bears Defense stood its ground getting the ball to end the game. Jayse Pruitt completed 5-15 for 122 yards. The leading rusher Chase Willingham racked up 70 yards on 12 carries.
Next week Plainview host Brindlee Mountain for Homecoming an a key region game.
